Last year, Serena Williams, the greatest athlete alive, won the Australian Open while she was two months pregnant. That’s a damn feat. And when she returned to tennis this year for the French Open, she wore a sleek black catsuit which she jokingly said made her feel like a warrior from Wakanda. But the reality of the suit was more practical: after giving birth, she struggled through a series of blood clots in her lungs that nearly killed her. She told reporters, “I’ve had a lot of problems with my blood clots, God I don’t know how many I’ve had in the past 12 months. I’ve been wearing pants in general a lot when I play so I can keep the blood circulation going.
